Longwing Vodka brand banner featuring the bottle and butterfly emblem

Stillness, distilled.

A vodka house concept in cold pursuit of clarity.

Longwing butterfly emblem

Named for the longwing butterfly — patient, precise, unhurried — Longwing was conceived as a quiet vodka: nothing added, nothing loud, nothing to hide behind.

Longwing Vodka was a liquor brand in development by Doug Mulford. What follows is the concept as it was presented — preserved here as part of the public record of his ventures.

The Bottle

Designed to disappear into the pour

The concept called for a spare silhouette — clean glass, a single butterfly mark, typography that stays out of the way. A bottle meant to read as ice on the shelf and vanish once the glass is filled.

Like the brand itself, the bottle never reached market. Longwing remained a concept in development.

The Detail

Restraint as a design language

Up close, the concept leaned on hairline rules, glacial blue accents, and negative space — the visual vocabulary of a top-shelf vodka house built around subtraction rather than ornament.

Every element of the identity pointed back to a single idea: clarity you can see before you taste.

The Story It Told

From open field to still air

The brand narrative began in the field — grain, water, and patience — and ended in a chilled pour. The longwing butterfly served as the through-line: a small, exact creature standing in for a small, exact spirit.

It is polished brand storytelling. It is also why this page exists — because behind the imagery is a business history worth knowing before you engage with it.
