Seize the Cocktail
Carpe Cocktails was conceived as a premium cocktail brand for the after-dark crowd — neon signage, moody bar collateral, and a lounge identity built around one idea: the best nights are seized, not scheduled. The brand never made it past development. Its founder's story is why.
The Concept
Carpe Cocktails was developed as an identity for nightlife venues — a design system spanning neon signage, bar menus, bottle packaging, and venue wayfinding. It was a brand in development, not a product on shelves.
The visual language centered on electric purple and hot magenta glow — signage meant to anchor a lounge wall and be photographed all night.
Bar menu covers, environmental graphics, and wayfinding concepts were mocked up to carry the brand through a full nightlife space.
Bottle label and packaging explorations extended the "Seize the Night" theme toward a retail-ready look — a direction that was never realized.
The Collateral
Design work produced during the brand's development phase.
Before You Do Business
Carpe Cocktails is one of several brand concepts associated with Doug Mulford. The polish of this brand work is exactly why this page exists: a compelling pitch is not the same thing as a trustworthy partner.
Doug Mulford defaulted on a six-figure business loan made to support his canned-cocktail business.
He repeatedly made — and broke — promises to repay the loan.
A court judgement has been entered against Doug Mulford.
